OPERATING SAFETY
FOR YOUR SAFETY READ BEFORE OPERATING
A. Thiswaterheaterdoesnothaveapilot.Itisequippedwithanignitiondevicethatautomatically
lights the burner. Do not try to light the burner by hand.
B. BEFOREOPERATINGsmellallaroundthewaterheaterareaforevidenceofleakinggas.Besureto
smellnexttothefloorbecausesomegasisheavierthanairandwillsettleonthefloor.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU SMELL GAS.
• Do not try to light any appliance.
• Donottouchanyelectricswitch;donotuseanyphoneinyourbuilding.
• Immediatelycallyourgassupplierfromaneighbor'sphone.Followthegassupplier's
instructions.
• If you cannot reach your gas supplier, call the fire department.
C. Useonlyyourhandtoturnthegasvalveknob.Neverusetools.Iftheknobwillnotturnbyhand,
don't try to repair it. Call a qualified service technician. Forced or attempted repair may result in
a fire or explosion.
D. Donotusethiswaterheaterifanyparthasbeenunderwater.Immediatelycallaqualifiedservice
techniciantoinspectthewaterheaterandtoreplaceanydamagedparts.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
1. STOP!ReadthesafetyinformationaboveorintheOwner'sManual.
2. Turnoffallelectricpowertothewaterheater.
3. Do not attempt to light the burner by hand.
4. TurnthemanualgasvalvelocatedontheoutsideoftheunitclockwisetotheOFFposition.
5. Waitfive(5)minutestoclearoutanygas.Ifyouthensmellgas,STOP!Follow"B"inthesafety
information above on this label. If you don't smell gas, go to next step.
6. TurnthemanualgasvalvelocatedontheoutsideoftheunitcounterclockwisetotheONposition.
7. Turnonallelectricalpowertothewaterheater.
8. Ifthewaterheaterwillnotoperate,followtheinstructions“toTurnOffGastowaterheater"and
call your service technician or gas supplier.
TO TURN OFF GAS TO APPLIANCE
1. Turnoffallelectricpowertothewaterheaterifserviceistobeperformed.
2. TurnthemanualgasvalvelocatedontheoutsideoftheunitclockwisetotheOFFposition.
WARNING:Ifyoudonotfollowtheseinstructionsexactly,afireorexplosionmayresultcausing
property damage, personal injury or loss of life.
